North Eastwood Christian Church began in 1923 in the Brightwood area of Indianapolis. The congregation relocated to our present location in 1971. NECC is a part of the restoration movement of independent Christian Churches and Churches of Christ that began in 1832. We endeavor to allow the Bible to be our only source of guidance in both doctrine and polity. Agreeing with Jesus that the world will know we are His by the love we show one another, we attempt to pattern ourselves after the early church as much as possible. With the early church as a pattern, we practice meeting around the Lord’s table weekly (in accordance with Acts 20:7), as well as take up a weekly offering (I Cor. 16:2).

One of the favorite activities of the folks at North Eastwood is our annual trip to Camp Allendale for our all church picnic. It is an awesome time of fellowship! Here our senior minister, Mike Percifield gives an inspiring message during our vesper service. Watch the calendar for our next Camp Allendale outing in 2010.

 “We Exist to improve a person’s relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Our Vision

What do we want to do?

             We desire to expose people to Christ, equip Christians to grow in Christ, and to experience service for Christ.

Why do we want this?

             Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 2:42-47 define our responsibility to improve every individual’s relationship with Jesus Christ.

How do we plan to accomplish this?

We expect our members to:

·    Evangelize for Jesus Christ by praying for unsaved souls, praying for the church to grow, inviting the unchurched to attend and warmly welcoming those who visit.

·    Worship Jesus Christ through regular attendance, actively participating in the worship service, living a life that honors God and giving faithfully and joyfully.

·    Mature in discipleship through regular study and understanding of God’s Word, sharing their faith with others and connecting with a small group.

·    Serve in Christian ministry through discovering their gifts and talents, being equipped to serve others and developing a servant’s heart.

·    Fellowship in Christian love through strengthening relationships, loving each other, refusing to gossip and following the leaders.

We Believe

¨ All scripture is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for all matters of faith.

¨ In one God-Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

¨ God is the Creator of the universe.

¨ That man, created by God, willfully sinned, and therefore, is lost and without hope apart from Jesus.

¨ Jesus is the Christ and is the one and only Son of God; He died for our sins and was raised, through the power of the Holy Spirit, from the dead.

¨ That forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to all those who trust Jesus as Savior and Lord.

¨ We believe the Bible teaches the pattern to acknowledge Jesus as Savior and Lord is:

1.    to believe in Him as God’s Son

2.    to have faith in His life, death and resurrection;

3.    to repent of personal sin;

4.    to confess Him as Lord;

5.    to be immersed into baptism;

6.    to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit to live a life of continued fellowship with Him.

¨ That the church is the body of Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, exists to make disciples of the lost and equip the saved to best serve Christ.

¨ That Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.
